On February 27, 1977, ABBA arrived in Sydney for their tour of Australia. They checked into the Sebel Town House Hotel in Elizabeth Bay.
There had been much outrage in the Australian press that tickets for the concerts would cost $9 or more! When tickets went on sale in October 1976, fans all over the country queued for hours to secure tickets and every single concert was sold out.
A total of 160,000 Australians attended these concerts!

ABBA‘s 1992 greatest hits album ABBA Gold will be reissued in April this year as part of the band’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
There have been various versions of this evergreen compilation over the years, including a 2CD edition and a CD+DVD offering. This new edition will actually be a three-CD set, presented in a digi-pack, and will feature the standard 19-track compilation on disc one, the More ABBA Gold set on disc two, and a third CD made up of B-sides (see full track listing below).
Around the same time a limited edition Waterloo seven-inch vinyl picture disc will be issued and as previously reported a deluxe edition of the Waterloo album will also be released.
It’s going to be a busy year for ABBA fans with a singles vinyl box coming up later in the spring and the autumn promising a Live At Wembley release.
ABBA Gold 40th Anniversary Edition will be released on 7 April 2014, and can currently be pre-ordered from Amazon in Germany.

The show "ABBA in Switzerland" was filmed in Leysin in the middle of February 1979.
Every ABBA album was promoted by a TV special. Two months before the release of "Voulez-Vous" a promotional TV show featuring new songs from the forthcoming album was filmed in Leysin in Switzerland.

Shine - the album
The album "Shine" was released in Sweden in September 1984. It contained 10 songs including two real rarities: the song "Slowly" written by Benny Andersson and Bjrn Ulvaeus as well as Frida's own composition "Don't Do It". Even the French singer and composer Daniel Balavoine (who had performed together with Frida the ABBAcadabra duet "Belle" in 1983) contributed with one song "The Face". The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite and his studio musicians played almost all instruments. The only musician from the ABBA family was Ruger Gunnarsson who played bass on the title song and "Chemistry Tonight". The album contained both modern up-tempo songs as "Shine" , "One Little Lie" and "Chemistry Tonight" and some beautiful ballads: "Come To Me", "Slowly", "Don't Do It" or "Comfort Me" which can be maybe called for "Shine's" "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" - a very different song with a very special sound and interpretation which suits Frida very good. Two songs which are quite difficult to understand musically are "Twist in the Dark" and "Heart of the Country" - two interesting compositions but definitely wrong choice for single releases.
In Sweden the album "Shine" entered the chart on September 28th, 1984 and stayed there for 10 weeks peaking at #6.

Polar in Sweden released maxi single "Shine" in white vinyl. Side A featured a maxi version of Shine with length of 6.27 - the same mix was released in all European maxi singles..

Waterloo Deluxe Edition Celebrates The 40th Anniversary Of ABBA’s Eurovision Victory!
The ABBA Deluxe Edition series, which began in 2006 with the release of the Arrival album, now reaches its eighth album. And what would be more natural in this 40th Anniversary year, celebrating ABBA’s victory in Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’, than to release a Deluxe Edition of the album of the same name. On this Waterloo Deluxe Edition the original album has been expanded with 8 bonus tracks, plus a DVD of rare and previously unreleased television material. Waterloo Deluxe Edition will be released April 7, 2014.

The album will be that recorded at Wembley 1979 for the BBC transcript show in 1980, but remastered for 2014 ears and containing the full set of music.
